Much has been accomplished at the Vacutech Building location in the nine months since the October 28, 2010 groundbreaking. Last week concrete was poured inside the structure. The south side and west end pour started at midnight on Wednesday and ran for about 12-hours.

Basque Festival (NABO) held in Buffalo, Wyoming

The Basque community held a great festival in Buffalo, Wyoming over the weekend. The parade and festival were a showcase of the culture and traditions, including many sheepwagons, dancing, music, arts and crafts, and food and wine.

Big Horn Turns 130

There was plenty to do in and around Big Horn on Saturday when the area celebrated 130 years of existence with a "Big Horn Birthday Bash." Among the events were raffles, vendors, live music, a pig roast, cowboy poets, local authors, drum and bugle corps and tours of Bradford Brinton. Come back for more photos.

You may have heard of "Trick or Treat" but if you attended any of the four recent rodeo performances you were rewarded with "Tricks & Treats" by the Sure Shot Trick Riders based out of Calgary, Alberta who provided trick and roman riding at break-neck speeds.

The National Day of the American Cowboy is July 23rd - perhaps a fitting occasion to again recognize the LeMond, Eaton and Kane families introduced during opening ceremonies each evening at the 81st Annual Sheridan WYO Rodeo as families that are carrying on the "Western Heritage." 3rd Thursday Street Festival

Normally you think of books when you go to the library but Thursday evening you went there for jazz, as in "Jazz Incorporated" with a quartet composed of Miles McKee on the sax, Joe Knokel on drums, Kit Wendtland on the double bass and Jacob Hirschman on guitar who played from 6:30 - 8:00 pm to the delight of those in chairs and on the grass outside in the patio area complete with free lemonade.

Patriotic Crossing

Did you know that these and other patriotic/military streets exist in the Sheridan Area? Recently the Sheridan VA Medical Center, aka Fort Mackenzie, added 14 or more street signs throughout the facility. You will see that the names all have a patriotic/military lineage as you enter and drive through the VA Medical Center. For example as you enter on Fort Road it becomes Navy Lane.

So Long Shade Trees

Phase I of the Wyoming/Park Area Reconstruction is underway. The contractor is removing trees throughout the project area on Burkitt St., Wyoming Ave. and Whittier St. - the trees shown here are in the 100 block of Wyoming Avenue. At present traffic is being detoured to Park and Whittier Streets to allow for the tree removal on Wyoming Avenue.
