Sheridan County Summer Junior Golf Series

The Sheridan County Jr. Golf Tournaments are open to all girls and boys ages 8-17 years old and kick-off is Monday, July 19th. Golfers will play 5, 9 or 18 holes, depending on their age and course difficulty.

A Sheridan High School Senior wins the "Millward Simpson' Award

Austin Woodward 2010 "MillwardSimpson" Award Winner

SIMPSON AWARDS - Sheridan high school senior Austin Woodward became the 5th student from Sheridan high school to win the annual “Millward Simpson” award Saturday night in Casper.

The Simpson award goes to the top high school male and female athlete of the year for the state of Wyoming. Woodward added this honor to a long list he received for his efforts this past school year. he was named All-state in football and basketball, was named the Wyoming Gatorade football player of the year and to the state's Super 25 football team.

AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers are 8-23 overall after dropping a 9-5 game at Rapid City Post #320 last night. The Troops took the lead scoring three runs in the first inning but couldn't hold the lead starting pitcher Ben Buckingham was saddled with the loss.

Next up for the Troopers is a conference double header Tuesday at home against the Casper Oilers. Wyoming American Legion baseball went to a District tournament format last summer for teams to qualify for the state tournament and that is a month away.

AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers are 8-22 and will play two in Rapid City tonight. The Troops have looked pretty good the last few weeks but have taken some tough losses in some close games and Head coach Ben Phillips says they would like to see more consistent play.

For the most part the the defense has been getting better but they are leaving too many runners on base.

SHERIDAN HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL - Yesterday we began our series with former Wyoming All-Mountain West linebacker Ward Dobbs. Dobbs is running the Sheridan high school off season training program. He graduated from UW and did his student teaching this spring at Sheridan high school.

Dobbs brings a wealth of training knowledge to the program and from his in his high school days in Alaska learned that the hard work pays off for athletes wanting to advance to play their sports in college.

The Sheridan Bronc Football Team Begins a new Off-Season Training Program

BRONC FOOTBALL - Ward Dobbs ended his college football career as an All-Mountain West conference Linebacker for the Cowboys in 2009, this past spring he did his student teaching at Sheridan high school. Sheridan high school Activities Director and Bronc football coach Don Julian wasn't going to let Dobbs get away once school got out and has Dobbs running the Bronc off-season weight and conditioning program.

BIG HORN MOUNTAIN TRAIL RUN - The over all 100 mile winner of Big Horn Mountain Wild and Scenic Trail run set a new race record Mike Wolfe from Helena Montana was the overall winner with a time of 18:43:37 which is a new course record.
